Introduction & best practice
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to add tiers and suppliers to a style. Adding tiers allows users to categorize suppliers based on their level of supply chain tier, while adding suppliers allows users to store their information in the Suppliers Database, prove their authenticity through certificates, and be part of the product's journey. This guide is useful for anyone who needs to organize and manage suppliers in their style creation process. This information is also directly linked to producing your style's transparency report and information on the Digital ID.
For information on the different tiers in the fashion supply chain, please refer to Understanding the Fashion Supply Chain.
Nb: Users can create and connect the tiers through the Create Styles and Materials Library page.
Navigate to Collection & Style > Style
- Create a tier from the Create Styles Page/Main Style Page.

- Go to the Supplier / Factory section.

- Select the Tier supplier that has been created or create a new Tier supplier.
The Supplier on the Main Style Page is normally the Tier 1 supplier - Finished Product Manufacturer. Eg. Garment Factory/Assembly.

- Type the Tier name.
- Click ' +Add' to create a new tier Supplier.

In the Create Tier Page, you need to fill out all the required fields.
- Level: enter the supplier's tier level
- Name: enter the name of the tier
- Icon: choose icon to identify this tier supplier - this will be shown on the Digital ID as part of the product's journey.
- Description: enter the description for this particular tier for information and easy identification.
Select Save in the lower-right corner.

- Type the Supplier's name which is already in the database from the dropdown.
Check the create supplier page for additional instructions to create the supplier through the Create Product page. Enter the Supplier name and select +Add.

From your Vestis Labs account, you can create and connect a tier from the Create Product Page.

Note: Users can create the product for the supply chain tiers from lowest to highest (Tier 4 to Tier 2) and connect them to the final product on the Material Library Page. Choose the product from the drop-down menu to link the subsequent tier.
- Select the Tier supplier that has been created or create a new Tier supplier.
If you have information on the subsequent tiers, we recommend that you create the products from the Lowest Tier (Tier 4) to make it easier for you to connect the Tiers.
For example, Users can create from the Tier 4 (Lowest) - Raw Material Suppliers. E.g. Raw Organic Cotton, Wool, Natural Rubber.

- Select the Tier supplier that has been created or create a new Tier supplier above the last tier that has been created. For example after creating the Tier 4 suppliers, create the Tier 3. Users can create the Tier 3 - Raw Material Processes, E.g, Yarn Production, Spinning Mills, Weaving, and Knitting.
- Click +Add Tiers Supplier on the Additional Tiers Supplier section to connect the lower level tiers. Select the next tier and the Product name you have created to connect it with the next tier. E.g., Tier 4 - Raw Material Suppliers and the Product is Raw Cotton. The supplier name will automatically be filled in.

- Select the Tier supplier that has been created or create a new Tier above the last tier created. For example, Tier 2 suppliers provide the components that are assembled by Tier 1 manufacturers to create the final products.
Users can create the Tier 2 - Fabric Manufacturer, E.g., Fabric and Textile Suppliers or Accessory Manufacturers.

- Click +Add Tiers Supplier on the Additional Tiers Supplier section. Select the previous tier and the Product name you have created to connect it with the next tier. E.g., Tier 3 - Raw Material Product and the Product is Organic Cotton Yarn. The supplier name will automatically be filled in, and the previously connected product to this tier will automatically be linked.

Note: All the connected tier suppliers of the product in the library that are used in the style production process are to be shown in the product journey.
